Old mill Ave., Pigeon Forge
Patriot Park is located just 1 block off the Parkway in the heart of Pigeon Forge's Old Mill Community. And as the site of the city's main trolley office as well as many of its special events , the park is frequented by locals and vacationers alike.
Three soccer fields (two regulation, one smaller) dominate most of Patriot Park's acreage. At the southwest corner of the park, a charming gazebo has even been used for private wedding ceremonies. At the northwest corner is a covered picnic pavilion, which, like the one at the city park, can be used at no cost. Surrounding the soccer fields is a half-mile walking/jogging trail.
Patriot Park is an area where you can go to relax and have an exciting time.
Before the city educational/recreation complex on Wears Valley road was completed, this was Pigeon Forge's only public park, and it didn't have an official name. When the new city park opened in 1990, during the Persian Gulf War, Patriot Park was christened. On display in a glass enclosure near the park entrance is a Patriot missile identical to the ones used by United States forces during the Persian Gulf War. The missile battery was donated by the Raytheon Corporation,, the manufacturer of Patriot missiles. It's one of only four on display in the United States. Also on the premises, at the far east end of the grounds, is a 32 feet high and 28-foot-wide replica of the liberty Bell, which is constructed of an aluminum frame with a shell made of woven metal lace. Both displays help play up the park's patriotic theme.
Patriot Park is the site of a number of city-sponsored special events held each year in Pigeon Forge. Among them are traditional holiday events like the annual Patriot Festival on the 4th of July and the city's official Winterfest Kickoff celebrations.
location for several major annual events in the Smoky Mountains. The park houses a veterans memorial in memory of Sevier county war veterans.
The annual Smoky Mountain Spring Trout tournament is held at Patriot Park the first week in April.
